Linear Mechanical Screens
These are the type of screen most widely used both as fine and coarse screens in large- and medium-scale treatment plants. They function even in the deepest channels without any limitation for channel height.
Major areas of application include domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and water treatment plants. They are also utilised in process water preparation plants in various industries.
Linear mechanical screen is a mechanical equipment mounted to the channel base at a 750 angle, with rakes that clean the screen bars in vertical direction. In general, it consists of a frame, a fixed screen, a scraping system and a waste container. The circular motion provided by the electric driven reducer is transformed into linear motion with a speed of 10 m/min and transferred to the scraper blade, all motions of which are automatically controlled.
The scraping motion starting from the lower dead point ends with the transfer of the screenings accumulated on the rake to the container by the counter-scraper located at the upper dead point. In this model, the scraping motion is continuous, not necessitating any electric equipment such as a microswitch to start the descending motion. During descent, the rake changes its position and moves away from the screen. When the linear mechanical screen is stopped, the rake is parked at the highest position and thus will not obstruct water flow.
